How St Helens Women FC ‘influenced’ their way to FA Cup Victory

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

St Helens Women FC took on 6 times FA cup winners, Doncaster Belles on Sunday 3rd November 2024. A fixture which once took place as far back as 1983! The program card for the 1983 fixture showing the admittance fee of just £1 and 50 pence for adults! Jolly good old days.

How influencers helped St Helens increase match-day footfall

St Helens FC motivated their fanbase to sign up as influencers: by offering a commission for each ticket sold, this encouraged fans to promote the upcoming fixture to their friends, family and social media following; resulting in an increased footfall to the game. As any football enthusiast knows, the energy and backing of the home crowd can be a game-changer, often swaying and impacting the players on the field to victory.

Outcome

The game benefitted from increased buzz as influencers actively shared the fixture on their social media feeds, amplifying excitement and drawing more attention to the game.

70% of the ticket webpage views came from the influencers

82% of tickets sold were purchased via influencer referrals

300% increase in revenue for St Helens FC

And more importantly, a 2-1 victory over a 6 time FA cup winning side.
